Desi Open Mic provides a unique platform for South Asian talent. Whether you’re a musician, storyteller, poet, comedian -or any other form of performance artist we welcome you with open arms.
Guidelines for Performers
- Each time will get 5 minutes which should be strictly followed.
- Performers will need to confirm a Bringer to get a spot. (A Bringer is someone joining the event as an audience member to support you and the event. ) TIP: Invite one than one friend to make sure you have at least have one person who attends.
- Selected performers and their Bringers should join the zoom meeting 5 Minutes before the event starts.
- Last minute cancellations are not allowed.
- All the performers and their bringer have to be present during the entire event.
- Total number of spots will be limited to 11.
- The above rules are strict, if an exception if to be made at all it will be under the condition you are able to support the event in another way.

- Some performances will fall into this category, the above rule don’t apply to performers in this category.
- These spots are reserved for experienced artists who have already been in the industry for a while
How is DESI OPEN MIC different from a regular open mic?
- We encourage participants who perform in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu among English. Content in English is always welcome, but just be aware that if you only speak English there will be content in other languages at the event.

It has a place for new artists as well as professional artists with plenty of resources at their disposal. Laal Button organizes open mics, comedy shows, improv workshops, theatre festivals and has also produced a number of short films.
